Columbia, SC - Competing in the second indoor meet of the 2024-25 season, the N.C. Wesleyan Track and field program showcased the ability to compete with the nation's biggest power four programs at the University of South Carolina on Saturday.Â
In the women's 60-meter dash, sophomore Kamiyah Wooten delivered an impressive performance, finishing 11th in the prelims with a time of 7.74Â seconds. She improved to 7.72Â seconds in the finals, securing 9th place overall. Right behind her, teammate Ti'Asia Bryant clocked a time of 7.77Â seconds, finishing 10th. Bryant also competed in the 200-meter dash, recording a time of 26.36Â seconds, which earned her 17th place out of 27 competitors.
Wooten continued to shine in the 400-meter dash, where she turned heads in a phenomenal effort, finishing 5th overall with a time of 58.02Â seconds in a field stacked with Division I athletes.
On the field side, Christian Van Norden represented the Bishops in the weight throw with a toss of 11.72Â meters, placing 12th. Van Norden also earned a top-ten finish in the shot put, reaching 11.69Â meters.
For the men, Desmond Barnes competed in the shot-put, posting a mark of 11.31Â meters to claim 17th place in a highly competitive field.
