Lynchburg, VA - The N.C. Wesleyan track and field program showcased an impressive performance at the 2025 Brant Tolsma Invitational, hosted by Liberty University over the weekend. The Battling Bishops competed against a strong field of athletes from DI institutions.
Christian Van Norden delivered a standout performance in the women's shot put, achieving a throw of 11.52 meters. This effort not only marked the best throw in the USA South Conference this season but also ranks as the 9th furthest in the south region.Â
On the track, Kamiyah Wooten turned heads in the women's 60-meter dash. Her time of 7.78 seconds is now the fastest in the USA South this season, the seventh quickest regionally, and the 32nd fastest nationally.Â
In the men's shot put, Desmond Barnes also made a significant impact, recording a throw of 12.73 meters to secure a strong second-place finish. His consistency continues to bolster the Bishops' presence in field events.
Additionally, Juan Abascal excelled in the 1000-meter run, clocking a time of 2:40.62. His performance adds depth to Wesleyan's middle-distance events.
