Box Score 2 Claremont, CA / Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan men's tennis team took on a pair of opponents in split-squad action on Tuesday, earning a dominant 7-0 victory over William Peace at home while falling 6-1 to No. 3 Tufts on the road in California.
At home, the Bishops overpowered William Peace from start to finish, sweeping both doubles and singles without dropping a set. The No. 1 duo of Tshepo Mosarwa and Rafhael Gastelu set the tone with a 6-0 win, while Francesco Raparo and Davide Simonini (No. 2) and Julian Pfefferman and Eustaquio Gavira (No. 3) followed suit with strong performances.
In singles play, Mosarwa cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at the top spot, while Gastelu, Simonini, and Raparo each posted straight-set victories. Bernardo Rojas and Juan Pablo Salgado rounded out the clean sweep with dominant performances at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Meanwhile, across the country, the other half of the team faced a formidable test against nationally ranked Tufts. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Bishops fell 6-1, with Luca Knese earning NCWU's lone victory in a dramatic 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 battle at No. 2 singles. Knese and Albert Sitwell also secured a doubles win at the No. 1 position, taking down their Tufts counterparts 6-3.
