Winston-Salem, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan track & field program delivered an exceptional performance at the 2025 USA South Indoor Championships, with the women's team earning a runner-up finish while sophomore Kamiyah Wooten was named Athlete of the Meet for her dominant display on the track. The men's team also put together several strong performances to contribute to an impressive showing for the Battling Bishops across both programs.
Sprinting to Success
The Bishop women were nearly unstoppable in the short sprints, sweeping the top two spots in both the 60-meter dash and 200 meters. In the 60 meters, Ti'asia Bryant claimed the conference title, clocking a time of 7.77 seconds, just ahead of teammate Kamiyah Wooten, who crossed the line in 7.86 seconds. Wooten had earlier posted the fastest time in the prelims, blazing to a 7.66.
Wooten returned to claim individual gold in the 200 meters, dominating the field with a winning time of 25.22 seconds, with Bryant securing second place in 26.11 seconds. KeSondra Pickett added to the Bishops' point total with a strong fifth-place finish in 27.11 seconds.
Middle Distance Dominance
Wooten continued her stellar meet with yet another individual title in the 400 meters, clocking a blazing 57.39 seconds, nearly three seconds ahead of the runner-up. Freshman KeSondra Pickett also impressed, taking fourth in 1:02.43 to give Wesleyan valuable team points.
Wooten Crowned Athlete of the Meet
With three individual championships and a runner-up finish in the 60 meters, Kamiyah Wooten was deservedly named the 2025 USA South Indoor Championships Athlete of the Meet, capping off a historic performance for the sophomore.
