Savannah, GA - The North Carolina Wesleyan men's golf team earned a third-place team finish at the 2025 Port City Classic, hosted at the Savannah Country Club in Savannah, Georgia. Competing on a challenging par 71 layout, the Battling Bishops battled through tough conditions to claim a spot near the top of the leaderboard.
Patterson Posts Top-Five Finish
Myles Patterson led the way for Wesleyan, delivering rounds of 74, 72, and 75 finishing at 5-over for the tournament. His steady play secured a fourth-place individual finish in a field of 94 golfers, helping anchor the Bishops' podium result.
Tonin Cracks Top 15
Freshman Matteo Tonin turned in a strong performance as well, finishing in a tie for 12th at 11-over. He posted consistent rounds of 77, 72, and 75, showing his ability to step up in a big moment his first year of collegiate golf.
Team Effort Drives Success
The Bishops' depth proved key to the third-place result. Mason Fischer finished in a tie for 31st, recording rounds of 76, 78, and 76 to close at 17-over. Right behind him, Lucas Perez Souts tied for 35th with scores of 78, 76, and 77, finishing 18-over.
Rounding out the lineup, Guido Guevara overcame a tough opening round to contribute valuable scoring, bouncing back from an 88 on day one with rounds of 75 and 78, finishing at 28-over.
Promising Start to Spring
The Bishops' third-place team finish at one of the early-season's signature events sets a strong tone for the remainder of the spring schedule. With Patterson's top-five performance leading the way, Wesleyan showed it can compete against some of the best teams in the region.
