N.C. Wesleyan Golf Earns National Academic Recognition

Norman, OK - The N.C. Wesleyan golf team has been recognized with the 2024-25 PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

This national award honors collegiate golf programs that maintain a high level of academic performance throughout the academic year. To be eligible, teams must have a collective team grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. The Battling Bishops met this standard, showcasing commitment to excellence both on the course and in the classroom.

The Golf Coaches Association of America, founded in 1958, is a professional association for collegiate golf coaches across all levels of collegiate competition. The GCAA promotes the game of golf and its values through education, recognition, and leadership initiatives, while also overseeing several awards that highlight both athletic and academic success.

PLATFORM Golf, the title sponsor of the award, is an organization focused on advancing the game of golf through innovation, player development, and support for college and junior golf programs. Their sponsorship of the academic award underscores the importance of balancing athletic competition with strong academic achievement.

The Bishops' recognition places NCWU among an elite group of programs nationwide that are setting the standard for what it means to be a student-athlete.
