Box Score Montgomery, Alabama - N.C. Wesleyan continued its opening weekend slate on Saturday, falling to Huntingdon 13-5 at Neal Posey Field. The Battling Bishops recorded nine hits and showed resilience at the plate, highlighted by a four-run seventh inning that trimmed the deficit and provided late momentum.
After Huntingdon built an early lead, Wesleyan got on the board in the third inning when Haden Blanks singled, stole both second and third, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Brady Williams to make it 2-1. Banks Hartman led the offensive effort, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, while Schumata Brown added two hits, including a double.
The Bishops mounted their biggest rally in the seventh. Bailor Peebles drew a walk and Carson Ashman reached on an error before Hartman singled to load the bases. Quintrel Pearson delivered a clutch two-RBI double to score two runs, and Aric Stewart followed with an RBI groundout to bring in another. Later in the inning, Brown laced an RBI double to cap the four-run frame as Wesleyan cut into the lead.
On the mound, Nathanael Volk made the start, with Preston Workman and Jackson Pavone providing relief appearances. Despite the final score, the Bishops continued to compete throughout, producing timely hits and aggressive baserunning as they gained valuable experience early in the 2026 season.
