Box Score

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The North Carolina Wesleyan women's basketball team celebrated Senior Night on Wednesday in Everett Gymnasium with a 79-67 victory over USA South rival Methodist University. Prior to tip-off, the Bishops recognized four-year seniors NeTaih Davis and Alijah Brown, who combined for 18 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and a block in the victory.

The Monarchs jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the opening minutes before back-to-back treys by Davis and sophomore Alexis Fitzgerald pulled Wesleyan to within one, 8-7. The game's only tie came just minutes later at 11-11, while the Bishops took their first lead on a bucket by sophomore Kenyata Harris at the 13:57 mark.

Harris' jumper kickstarted a 17-5 run over the next five minutes that put Wesleyan on top by a 28-16 tally. The Bishops went on to lead by as many as 16 on two occasions thanks to a pair of Davis baskets, and NCWC took an eventual 43-29 advantage into the break.

Wesleyan proceeded to score the first five points of the second half and held a double-digit lead for majority of the period. The Monarchs managed to get as close as seven points, 71-64, with 2:05 to go, but the Bishops were able to ice the win with a 5-for-6 showing at the charity stripe in the closing minutes.

Sophomore Jordan Cager paced Wesleyan with a game-high 22 points and 13 rebounds. Harris and Davis each netted 18, while Fitzgerald joined them in double-figures with 14. As a team, NCWC shot over 42 percent from the floor, 50 percent from downtown and 78 percent at the free throw line on the night.

Jalisia Campbell led MU with team-high 15 points off the bench.

Wesleyan (6-16, 4-13 USA South) wraps up its regular season over the weekend with a pair of USA South match-ups at Mary Baldwin and Ferrum.
