Battling Bishops Down Mary Baldwin, Fall at Meredith College

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Staunton, Va. / Raleigh, N.C. - Freshman Jermaiyah Baker netted a career-high 19 points on Saturday to lead her N.C. Wesleyan women's basketball team to an 89-56 USA South win at Mary Baldwin College. After suffering a 69-57 loss at Meredith on Sunday, the Bishops now stand at 5-5 in USA South play.

Saturday's game at Mary Baldwin saw the Bishops lead from the tip, leading by as many as 36 late in the second half. Baker finished just one rebound shy of a double-double, and all 12 Wesleyan players found the scoring column.

Baker was joined in double-figures by fellow freshman Daijah Davis with 12 points and junior Timyra Staton with 10. Sophomore Shekinah Huggins pulled down a game-high 10 boards.

At Meredith on Sunday, the Angels scored 30 points at the charity stripe to help secure a 12-point win. Sophomore KeChae Parker netted a team-high 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while freshman Nadiya Holley added 13 of her own.

Staton's 12 rebounds paced NCWC on the glass, but it was not enough to combat a 54-37 rebounding edge by Meredith on the day.

The Bishops (8-11, 5-5 USA South) travel to LaGrange and Huntingdon next weekend to continue league play.
