Battling Bishops Outlook
The Bishops (2–3, 0–2 USA South) enter Saturday's contest coming off one of the most explosive offensive performances in program history, amassing 575 total yards against Belhaven. Senior running back Nahjiir Seagraves was unstoppable, rushing for 209 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries, including scoring runs of 70 and 75 yards.
Quarterback Javier Rice continued his efficient play under center, completing 22 of 32 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns, highlighted by a 57-yard strike to Tyson Resper, who finished with a career-high 226 receiving yards on twelve catches. Michael Pannell added five receptions and a score to round out a potent passing attack.
On defense, freshman safety Mathias Winston earned USA South Defensive Rookie of the Week honors after recording a career-best fourteen tackles in the loss. Senior linebacker Eric Cooper and sophomore defensive back Solomon Young added six tackles apiece, while the Bishops' front seven produced seven tackles for loss and a pair of sacks.
Through five games, Wesleyan ranks among the league's most balanced offenses, averaging 34.0 points and 440.2 yards per game, while Seagraves leads the USA South in rushing yards (747) and touchdowns (8). Winston and Andrew Brown pace the defense with 27 and 26 total tackles, respectively, and kicker Braxtyn Green remains steady in the special teams unit with five made field goals on the season.
Scouting the Hawks
Huntingdon (3–2, 2–0 USA South) enters the weekend riding a three-game winning streak, including a 17–10 road victory at Greensboro last Saturday. The Hawks boast one of the conference's most dynamic offenses, averaging 372.4 yards and 30.2 points per game while holding opponents to just 261.0 yards per contest.
Quarterbacks Jake White and Knox Roberts have combined for 1,087 passing yards and twelve touchdowns, with Roberts posting an impressive 65% completion rate. Their top target, Tim McReynolds, has 415 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, while also contributing as a dangerous return specialist with a 54-yard punt return touchdown this season.
On the ground, the Hawks are powered by De'Rodrick Hepburn (394 rushing yards, 6.1 yards per carry) and Eric Jones Jr. (226 yards, two touchdowns). Defensively, Huntingdon has registered 21 sacks through five games and is allowing just 2.4 yards per rush, making them one of the toughest front sevens in the league.
