Rome, GA - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its All-Sportsmanship Team selections for the 2024-25 men's basketball season, with N.C. Wesleyan senior Shakei Hines earning a well-deserved spot on the prestigious list.
A native of Wilson, NC, and a product of Hunt High School, Hines has consistently demonstrated the qualities that the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team is designed to honor — integrity, respect, and leadership both on and off the court. The conference uses the All-Sportsmanship Team to highlight student-athletes who exemplify the very best in character, teamwork, and positive conduct, representing the true spirit of collegiate athletics.
Hines' journey to this honor has been built on a foundation of hard work and commitment. As a standout at Hunt High School, Hines was named the Big East 3A Player of the Year and an All-Tournament Team selection, showcasing his skills and sportsmanship early in his career at Mount Olive before coming to NCWU. At Wesleyan, Hines has continued to shine, balancing his efforts on the court with his success in the classroom, earning a spot on the 2023-24 USA South All-Academic Team.
This season, Hines provided consistent contributions for the Battling Bishops, appearing in 25 games while averaging 4.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Known for his unselfish play, defensive effort, and willingness to do the little things that help his team succeed, Hines' presence was felt far beyond the box score. Whether diving for loose balls, encouraging teammates, or maintaining composure in tough moments, Hines embodies the type of player every coach wants on their roster.
The USA South All-Sportsmanship Team honors student-athletes from each member institution who display the conference's core values of fair play, respect for opponents, and positive representation of their team and university.
