Track & Field Shines at VMI Winter Relays

Lexington, VA - The N.C. Wesleyan track and field programs delivered strong performances at the VMI Winter Relays this weekend, with standout showings from multiple athletes.

Leading the way was Kamiyah Wooten, who dominated the 200-meter dash, finishing first out of 40 competitors with an impressive time of 24.29 seconds. Her performance currently ranks third nationally and first in the South Region. Wooten also excelled in the 60-meter dash, securing third place out of 34 runners with a time of 7.69 seconds, which ranks thirteenth nationally and second in the south region.

On the men's side, Juan Abascal had a strong showing in the 800-meter run, placing tenth out of 32 competitors with a time of 2:02.10. His performance earned him recognition as the USA South Male Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week, as he now holds the third-best time in the conference for the event.
