Nadia Simmons Named CSC Academic All-District Honoree

Greenwood, IN - N.C. Wesleyan graduate student and women's basketball standout Nadia Simmons has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, recognizing her excellence both on the court and in the classroom.

Simmons, a key leader for the Battling Bishops, has compiled an impressive list of athletic and academic achievements throughout her career. On the hardwood, she earned USA South First-Team All-Conference honors for the 2023-24 season, was named USA South Player of the Week on November 18th, and served as a National SAAC representative at the 2025 NCAA Convention. She was also a USA South Second-Team All-Conference selection in the 2022-23 season, further solidifying her reputation as one of the top players in the league.

This season, Simmons played in 24 games, making 22 starts, while averaging 13.0 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per contest. She shot an efficient 47.3% from the field and 37.9% from beyond the arc, showcasing her scoring ability. Additionally, she contributed on both ends of the floor with 73 assists, 43 steals, and nine blocks.

Off the court, Simmons has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to academics and service. She has been a NCWU President's Honors List member from 2020-24 and an esteemed member of the Taylor Crocker Honors Program. Her academic excellence earned her CSC Academic All-Region (2022-24) recognition and USA South Academic All-Conference (2020-24) honors. She was also named NCWU Student-Athlete of the Year and inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society for her outstanding achievements in academics and leadership.

Beyond her athletic and academic pursuits, Simmons has been actively involved in community service. She has served as a Shelton Leadership Challenge Mentor, volunteered with the Boys and Girls Club of Rocky Mount, and participated in numerous outreach initiatives, including delivering season passes to first responders on 9/11, assisting with Nash County Parks and Recreation and the YMCA, and supporting the Sleep in Heavenly Peace initiative.

Head Coach Artina Trader praised Simmons' contributions, saying, "Nadia embodies everything we strive for in our program. She is an outstanding athlete, an exceptional student, and a leader in our community. Her dedication to excellence in all aspects of her life is inspiring."

Athletic Director Aaron Denton also commended Simmons, stating, "Nadia has set the standard for what it means to be a student-athlete at N.C. Wesleyan. Her accomplishments on the court, in the classroom, and in the community showcase her incredible work ethic and character. We are extremely proud of her."

Reflecting on the honor, Simmons shared, "Being recognized for both my athletic and academic efforts means a lot to me. I am grateful for my teammates, coaches, professors, and the entire NCWU community for supporting me throughout my journey. This award is a reflection of the people who have helped me along the way."

Simmons' commitment to excellence in all areas embodies the true spirit of a student-athlete, and her well-deserved CSC Academic All-District recognition is a testament to her hard work and dedication. The N.C. Wesleyan community celebrates her achievements and looks forward to her continued success in both athletics and academics.
