Rocky Mount, NC - North Carolina Wesleyan University alumna
Nadia Simmons continues to build an impressive foundation for a future in athletic leadership, combining academic excellence, community engagement, and a strong presence on the court.
A dual graduate of N.C. Wesleyan, Simmons earned her undergraduate degree in Business and Sports Administration in 2024 and completed her Master of Business Administration in 2025. Throughout her time at Wesleyan, she took full advantage of hands-on opportunities that prepared her for a promising career in the sports industry.
From 2021 to 2023, Simmons served as a Youth Sports Coordinator intern at the Henderson Family YMCA, a position supported by the Golden LEAF Foundation. There, she led youth programming, fostered teamwork, assisted coaches, and developed strong relationships with families in the community.
"Witnessing the development of the youth and building bonds with families was incredibly rewarding," said Simmons. "It strengthened my leadership skills and deepened my passion for community involvement and youth athletics."
As a five-year member of the N.C. Wesleyan women's basketball program, Simmons balanced her commitment to the court with her academic and professional pursuits. Her decision to attend NCWU was fueled by the University's blend of academic support and athletic competitiveness.
"I was drawn to NCWU's family atmosphere and strong athletics program," she stated. "Being able to pursue my degree while playing the sport I love made my college experience meaningful."
During her graduate year, Simmons contributed to Bishop Athletics as a Graduate Intern while actively exploring full-time opportunities in the industry. She credits the relationships she built on campus and the support from organizations like Golden LEAF as key factors in her journey.
"My time at NCWU has been truly exceptional," Simmons said. "The diverse and welcoming environment here has expanded my skill set and connected me with inspiring individuals across campus. The relationships I've built have created a vibrant and supportive academic community."
Simmons also shares a special family connection to the university—she is the proud older sister of twin sisters who are set to graduate from Wesleyan next year.
Now a proud alumna, Simmons remains a shining example of how passion, purpose, and perseverance can lead to lasting impact—both in athletics and in the community.
