Women's Track Competes at Historic Texas Relays

Austin, TX - The N.C. Wesleyan women's track team made history this past weekend, competing in the prestigious 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium. This marked the first-ever meet for the program at a Power Four SEC school, as the Battling Bishops were tested against elite competition from across the country.

A two-time Division III All-American in 2025, Kamiyah Wooten represented NCWU in the 100-meter dash, finishing 41st overall with a time of 12.25 seconds in her only event. Teammate Ti'Asia Bryant also lined up against a loaded field of SEC athletes, crossing the line in 12.34 seconds to place 48th.

"This was an amazing experience," Wooten said. "Lining up against some of the best sprinters in the country pushes you to another level. I'm proud of how we competed and represented our program."

Bryant echoed those sentiments, emphasizing the opportunity to race on such a big stage. "It was a blessing to be here and compete at such a high level. This only motivates me to keep improving."

Head coach Bill Dunn reflected on the significance of the moment for N.C. Wesleyan track and field. "To be part of such a historic meet at an SEC school is truly incredible for our program," Dunn said. "This is a milestone moment, and to go from Texas to Tennessee next weekend for another SEC meet speaks volumes about the direction of NCWU track. We are proving that we belong on this stage."

The Battling Bishops will continue the competitive stretch as NCWU heads to Knoxville, Tennessee, this weekend for the Tennessee Relays, marking back-to-back SEC meets for the program.
