The N.C. Wesleyan women's soccer team battled on the road Saturday but came up short in a 4–0 loss at Mary Washington. The Bishops were tested early as the Eagles capitalized on chances in both halves. Goalkeeper Lauren Graham was busy throughout the afternoon, finishing with 11 saves as she worked to keep the Bishops within striking distance. Defenders Jordan Fernandez and Sydney Harris anchored the back line and helped disrupt several UMW attacks, while midfielders Samantha Dell and Peyton Staub worked to spark transition opportunities moving forward. Wesleyan registered two shots in the match.
The Bishops now sit at 0-3-1 to begin the season but remain focused on building chemistry and consistency as the non-conference slate continues. They return to Scalf Field on Wednesday, September 10, when they host Guilford College in a 5:00 p.m. kickoff.
