Box Score

Rocky Mount, N.C. - In USA South women's basketball action, Meredith College edged N.C. Wesleyan by a 69-67 score in Everett Gym on Wednesday night. NCWC senior Kourtney Salisbury drilled a go-ahead trey with 54 seconds remaining, but it was the Angels' McKenzi Edwards that provided the difference with a game-winning jumper at the buzzer.

The game was tight throughout and featured 11 lead changes and 10 ties. The Bishops managed to overcome a 38-32 halftime deficit to take a 55-51 lead on a Kenyata Harris jumper midway through the final period. Meredith answered with a 10-1 run and went on to forge an eventual 63-57 advantage with 4:58 to go.

From there, the Bishops put together a 10-2 run of their own that was capped by Salisbury's three-pointer that gave NCWC a 67-65 lead. Meredith proceeded to knock down a pair of free throws on its next possession, while a pair of missed free throws by Wesleyan set the stage for Edwards' heroics.

Salisbury turned in a solid all-around performance with seven points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Harris complimented her with a game-high 28 points to go along with nine rebounds. As a team, the Bishops drained 10-of-20 attempts from behind the arc on the night.

Wesleyan (4-7, 2-3 USA South) continues league play this weekend at Huntingdon and LaGrange on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
