Softball Concludes Successful Fall Slate

Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan softball program wrapped up a strong fall season under head coach John Brackett, using the preseason stretch to evaluate a deep roster and build chemistry ahead of the 2026 spring campaign.

"This is the largest team we have ever had, so we had to split practices some days," Brackett said. "It took some time, but I thought our returners and newcomers meshed pretty well. We scrimmaged quite a bit, which gave the coaches a lot of opportunities to evaluate."

The Bishops hosted its annual Fall Play Day at Edge Field, finishing 2–1 on the day with wins over Wake Tech and a split against Louisburg. The team's pitching staff impressed with consistent performances in the circle, while Wesleyan's defense provided steady support behind them.

"Our pitchers threw very well and our defense was strong behind them," Brackett added. "Offensively, our run production could have been better, but I know we'll pick that up heading into the spring season."

As the Bishops prepare for the upcoming 2026 campaign, Brackett and his staff are encouraged by the team's growth and hunger following last year's run to the USA South Conference Tournament Championship Series.

"I am very excited about our team and coaching staff moving forward," Brackett said. "We all feel that we have some unfinished business from last year's run. I have a lot of respect for all of the teams in our conference, but our goal is to make another run this year and win the conference tournament."
