Chappy Wake (class 1972) was a three-time Dixie Conference Champion in men’s tennis. In 1971, Wake won the Dixie Conference Tournament Championship at #5 singles and teamed withJack Casey to win the #3 Doubles Championship. The next season Wake represented the Battling Bishops at the #3 singles slot and once again won the Dixie Conference Tournament Championship.

Wake was known as a great athlete who only learned the game of tennis upon his arrival at NCWU. He was coached by Jim Purser.
