Richard Shannonhouse was a Dixie All-Conference golfer who led the Battling Bishops to the Dixie Regular Season Championship in1971. That year, he was the individual champion of the Dixie Conference Tournament, leading the Bishops to a team championship that they won by 35 strokes.

Shannonhouse was a two-time Most Valuable Player for the North Carolina Wesleyan golf program.
