A member of the 1985 conference title team, Gene Sanguinetti was named a first-team all-conference selection and on a prestigious list of Bishops who earned First-Team All-American accolades.

In his career at NCWU he also managed to get Dixie Conference Player of the Week multiple times, All Dixie Conference, All South Region, All-American, and at that time had the record for 21 Doubles. Him and his teammates managed to become Dixie Conference Champions with a record of 35-9-2.
