A native of Gloucester, New Jersey, Rich McNee joined the North Carolina Wesleyan baseball program as a freshman in 1989. In over 125 career games at first base and catcher, he was a career .300 hitter and collected over 100 hits and 100 runs batted in. A four-year letter winner, he was a member of the 1989 National Championship team and two Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (DIAC) Championship squads in 1990 and 1991.

As a junior, McNee led the Bishops in average (.333), hits (51),doubles (15), homeruns (5), total bases (81) and RBIs (50). He was rewarded for his efforts by being named a Second Team All-DIAC performer. He followed up his junior performance with a solid senior year in 1992. McNee batted .314 and drove in a team-best 45runs en route to being named the team’s Most Valuable Player,a First Team All-DIAC selection and an NCAA Division III All-American.

McNee enjoyed an overall record of 133-44 during his Bishop career. He graduated from N.C. Wesleyan in 1992 with a degree in Physical Education.
