Shaun Oliveria was a standout soccer player for the Battling Bishops from 1999 to 2002 and remains Wesleyan’s all-time leading scorer with a program-record 45 goals and 110 career points. A four-time All-Conference selection and three-time Most Valuable Player, Oliveria’s 2002 senior season saw him pick up the most notable accomplishment of his career when he became the first Wesleyan player in history to garner Conference Player of the Year accolades.  

In addition to Oliveria’s career records, the Virginia native also held the season record total points (47 in ’02) and ranked second in season goals scored (20 in ’02) at the time of his graduation. As a senior captain that season, he led his Bishops to just their second winning season in the previous 13 years and was rewarded with a First Team All-South Region selection, as well as a third straight First Team All-Conference honor and third straight NCWU Male Athlete of the Year award.

At the conclusion of his career, Oliveria served as an assistant coach with the Battling Bishops during their 2003 season.  He completed his bachelor’s degree in Food Service and Hotel Management later that fall and proceeded to play semi-professionally in the Premier Development League for the Richmond Futures and West Virginia Chaos, where he led the team in goals, assists and total points.
